PETALING JAYA: Trapper Group has once again proven that a homegrown Malaysian agency can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s best.

In the latest RECMA October 2025 Report, Trapper Group secures a position among the Top 5 Media Agencies in Malaysia, maintaining its distinction as the only independent Malaysian agency to consistently rank within the nation’s top tier.

On the global stage, Trapper is recognised as the fifth ranked independent media agency in the Asia-Pacific region and the 14th best independent media agency in the world.

This milestone cements its position among global heavyweights while remaining firmly rooted in Malaysia.

Trapper’s journey is one of belief, discipline and focus. Founded in 2001, the agency began as a small independent player serving local brands, built on the conviction that strong ideas and performance-driven work would always outlast size and scale.

Over the years, Trapper has evolved from its Malaysian roots into a regional and global contender, managing mandates across South-East Asia while remaining proudly independent.

“We built everything ourselves, from our systems and strategies to our people and standards,” said Sivanathan.“We built everything ourselves, from our systems and strategies to our people and standards,” said Sivanathan.

Chairman and co-founder Sivanathan Krishnan said, “We built everything ourselves, from our systems and strategies to our people and standards.

“That is what makes this recognition meaningful. We are not just participating in the industry; we are redefining what independence can achieve.”

Trapper’s recognition in the RECMA Vitality and Structure Index highlights its growing momentum, client success and integrated operations. From its beginnings serving local advertisers, Trapper has evolved into a trusted partner for both Malaysian and international brands.

Trapper holds the global media remit for Malaysia Aviation Group, reflecting its ability to manage complex worldwide requirements with precision and scale.

Regionally, Trapper drives media responsibilities for Kia and Emborg, delivering strategy and performance across multiple South-East Asian markets.

Within Malaysia, Trapper continues to strengthen its presence through a dynamic portfolio of key clients including Bank Negara Malaysia, Netflix, Oatside, Tokio Marine, Brickfields Asia College, Ajinomoto and many more. This diverse client base is a testament to Trapper’s ability to adapt to different industries while maintaining a singular commitment to results and innovation.

This evolution from local roots to regional and global reach showcases Trapper’s ability to translate Malaysian intelligence into international relevance.

“Trapper has never been about replicating network templates; we have always charted our own path,” said Sivanathan.

“Our progress is proof that local talent, when driven by purpose and performance, can reach global standards without losing its identity.”

Central to Trapper’s progress is its integrated approach that seamlessly combines strategy, data, storytelling and outcome-based planning to deliver its promise of engineering growth for our clients. This has been part of the agency’s DNA long before it became a buzzword in the industry.

“In an ever-shifting AI future for media agencies, our recently launched execution engine today operates in real time and is fully customisable to fit the individual needs of our clients,” Sivanathan explained.

“While others are still figuring it out, we are already living it. This is where AI and progress meet media excellence.”

He added: “We have always focused on the work and shielded ourselves from the noise that distracts our attention. Our results speak for themselves.”

As a Malaysian agency that has worked tirelessly to stand among the country’s top five, Trapper believes it is time for local brands to think bigger and embrace a different way forward.

“Local clients should venture into new ways of thinking. We are entrepreneurs with entrepreneurial outcomes,” Sivanathan pointed out.

"We are proud to remain independent, Malaysian and committed to proving that excellence built locally can compete with the best in the world."
