KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all Malaysians and government agencies for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the successful hosting of the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits.

He said the successful hosting of the international-level summit, which brought together world leaders, reflected the capabilities, professionalism and unwavering commitment of all parties – from top leadership to front-line personnel.

“Alhamdulillah, I took the opportunity earlier to convey my sincere gratitude to the tens of thousands of officers and personnel involved – from airport, security, Immigration and Customs services, to the Foreign Ministry and the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry.

“Of course, this includes the Chief Secretary to the Government and the entire government machinery.

“I am truly moved – this reflects how Malaysians, across all levels, work tirelessly out of love and dedication for the country,” he said.

Anwar said this at a press conference marking the conclusion of the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits here yesterday, Bernama reported.

Also present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

The 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits, which began on Sunday, brought together leaders from around the world, including US President Donald Trump, China Premier Li Qiang and Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Also in attendance were South Korea President Lee Jae-myung, South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa and Japan Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, along with leaders from Asean member states.
