Jobless man pleads guilty to injuring daughter with machete


KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man has pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court here to a charge of injuring his 10-year-old daughter with a machete.

K. Vejesh, 49, was charged on Friday (Oct 24) with voluntarily causing hurt to his biological daughter at a flat unit in Setapak, Wangsa Maju, at about 1.30am on Oct 22.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of these punishments, upon conviction.

The accused can also be punished under Section 326A of the same Code, which carries a penalty of up to twice the maximum imprisonment term for the offence.

Judge Dr Azrol Abdullah set Oct 29 for the case facts and sentencing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Shakila Mohd Shariff prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. – Bernama
