Sabah cops ready for state election with 8,900 personnel

KOTA KINABALU: Preparations to face the incoming state elections are well and complete, says Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.

He said a total of 8,900 personnel, including 1,200 additional officers from Bukit Aman and Sarawak, will be stationed statewide throughout the election period.

"So far, our preparations to ensure a smooth election are ready," he said during a press conference here, Wednesday (Oct 22).

Jauteh said these preparations will also take into account the monsoon season, which is expected to start in November up to early 2026.

This means they are ready to face possible natural disasters, as well as the state elections.

He said though many parties have started their campaign activities, safety-wise, all was intact.

"And as we all know, there is no need for special permits to hold activities or gatherings from the police anymore, so these activities are just usual political activities," said Jauteh.

Sabah will see its 17th state election held on Nov 29, early polls on Nov 25, and Nominations Day on Nov 15.
