Online learning an option for higher education institutions during Asean Summit

PETALING JAYA: Institutions of higher learning (IPTs) affected by road closures during the upcoming 47th Asean Summit have been offered the online learning option.

In a media statement on Tuesday (Oct 21), the Higher Education Ministry said it will allow public and private IPTs to choose whether to conduct teaching and learning (PdP) sessions online or physically during the summit, which will take place from Oct 26 to 28 in Kuala Lumpur.

"The Ministry of Higher Education has taken note of the road closures and security measures that will be implemented throughout the event in areas around the Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Putrajaya). Each institution is requested to check the locations, times, and dates of road closures to determine whether online PdP is necessary, ensuring that their communities are not affected by the disruptions," the statement read.

It said that students and staff who are impacted may also contact their respective institutions for further information.

"This flexibility is provided to safeguard the well-being of IPT communities and enable them to plan their movements accordingly, ensuring that the PdP process continues smoothly," it added.
