KUALA LUMPUR: Four foreign nationals have pleaded guilty at the Bandar Baru Bangi Magistrate's Court to possessing 4,002kg of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) without a licence, while a local man claimed trial to the same charge.
Indonesians Fauzan, 25, Yusrijal, 26, and Ridwanuddin, 24, and a Myanmar national, Myo Naing Oo, 44, admitted to the offence after the charge was read to them before Magistrate Nurdiyanah Mohd Nawawi on Friday (Oct 17).
The court did not allow them bail and set Oct 24 to hear the facts of the case and for sentencing.
Meanwhile, a local man, S. Dashenthiran, 27, pleaded not guilty to the same charge, and the court set the same date for case mention.
The five individuals involved were jointly charged, together with another person still at large, with possessing a scheduled controlled substance, namely 4,002kg of LPG without a licence at a premises in Semenyih at 5pm on Wednesday (Oct 15).
This is a violation of Regulation 3(1) of the Supply Control Regulations 1974.
The charge, framed under Section 21(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and punishable under Section 22(1), provides for a maximum fine of RM1mil, or imprisonment of up to three years, or both, upon conviction.
For the second and subsequent offences, a maximum fine of RM5mil or up to five years' jail, or both, is imposed on those found guilty. – Bernama
