FOOTAGE of a mother riding a motorcycle with her baby and two other children while working as a food delivery rider has gone viral on social media, Kosmo! reported.
Noryani Syakira Yaakob, 23, said she did not do it to seek attention but was forced by financial hardship to help her husband, who works at a motorcycle workshop earning a monthly salary of RM1,200.
“I don’t have any other choice but to take them with me because there’s no one to look after them at home,” she said.
“On average, I earn around RM20 to RM30 a day after deducting fuel expenses and I’m already very grateful for that.”
She added that her children are aged five, two and 10 months.
Previously, Noryani worked as an assistant for a fried chicken vendor but had to stop due to difficulties managing her children.
According to her, the video was recorded two weeks ago when she delivered a packet of nasi goreng from Bukit Katil to Hospital Melaka for a payment of RM5.
“I’ve been working as a food delivery rider for about two months now.
“After dropping off my eldest at a kindergarten in Bukit Katil, I continue making deliveries while taking my other two children along on my husband’s motorcycle,” she said.
Although the income is modest, Noryani said it is just enough to cover daily expenses, including milk and nappies, and RM350 in monthly rent.

In the incident at Kampung Periok Hilir, Pahang, the disabled cat called Dong belonging to Siti Khadijah Mamat was found charred, Sinar Harian reported.
Her daughter Sonita Mat Ariffin, 40, said that apart from losing the cat that she had cared for 10 years, the family was also left with nothing when their almost 50-year-old house was destroyed in the fire.
All the documents, health records and equipment of her eldest son, Mohamad Izzat Izuddin, 18, due to report as a military member at a camp in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, were also destroyed.
She said that apart from her mother, her other son Mohamad Izzul Irfan also suffered burns on both his palms and feet.
Both of them were taken to Tumpat Hospital for treatment.
