Police wrap up probe into Year Four pupil’s death, says Alzafny

SEREMBAN: Police have wrapped up investigations into the death of a Year Four pupil here after recording statements from 49 witnesses, said Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad.

The Negri Sembilan police chief said the investigation paper has been submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further action.

“The 49 witnesses were either directly or indirectly linked to the case. We are now waiting for further instructions from the AGC,” he added.

The 10 year old was found unconscious in a school toilet in Senawang on Oct 1.

He was rushed to a clinic by the school’s discipline teacher but was pronounced dead by a doctor.

An autopsy found the cause of death was compression of the neck.

No other injuries were found on the body.

DCP Alzafny said personnel from Bukit Aman’s behavioural science and forensic units were also roped in.

“We are looking at all angles, including possible criminal elements and the possibility of bullying,” he said.

“We remind the public not to speculate or share unverified information, or make unnecessary or irresponsible comments,” he added.

He previously said the death was being probed under the anti bullying legislation or Section 507C of the Penal Code.

Section 507C criminalises threatening, abusive or insulting words or actions likely to cause harassment, distress, fear or alarm, even if harm was not intended.

The penalty is imprisonment of up to one year, a fine or both.
