JB Cops, teachers team up to curb after-school loitering culture

JOHOR BARU: Police and school discipline teachers have teamed up to tackle student loitering after school hours and raise road safety awareness.

South Johor Baru OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the 'Op Didik' operation was carried out together with two discipline teachers, Muhammad Faris Khairallah and Mohd Hisam Mohd Hussain, along Jalan Beladau 37, Taman Puteri Wangsa from 1pm to 2.30pm on Tuesday (Oct 14).

"This operation was led by Inspector Hafizuddin Zakaria and nine policemen from Taman Pelangi Indah police station.

"Six summonses were issued, including four for missing side mirrors and two for not displaying registration numbers, following inspections on 19 motorcycles and 29 secondary school students," he said in a statement.

He added that the operation reflected the police's commitment to promoting road safety awareness among students, after receiving complaints from discipline teachers about students loitering after school.

"The students were also given safety advice and reminded to practice responsible riding. They were urged to wear helmets, obey traffic rules and ride motorcycles carefully," he said.

ACP Raub expressed hope that such efforts would help reduce road accidents involving students while fostering discipline and civic awareness among youth.
