AN elderly man was found unconscious atop a 9m-tall coconut tree before being rescued by a team of firefighters in Taman Jaya 2, Temerloh, Pahang, Sinar Harian reported.
The rescue operation took about 30 minutes to bring the man, believed to be in his 60s, safely to the ground.
It was reported that he had been testing a set of homemade climbing gear prior to losing consciousness.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Depart-ment Zone 2 chief Mohd Sobree Mohamed Salleh said they received an emergency call at about 11am.
“Upon arrival, our team found a man unconscious and stuck on the tree. Personnel began the rescue operation using ladders and pulleys to lower the victim safely,” he said.
The man was successfully brought down and handed over to medical personnel for further treatment.
> Singer Elyana has shared a photo of herself bald in a bid to inspire and uplift other cancer fighters, Kosmo! reported.
According to the 38-year-old, whose full name is Erneelya Elyana Emrizal, she chose to share the photo after receiving numerous messages from cancer patients, expressing their reluctance or fear about going bald.
“The photo was taken nine months ago.
“For many, going bald can feel like the end of life. Some even report that their husbands have left them, particularly those who have recently become wives or mothers,” she said, adding that her hair first began to fall out after her initial chemotherapy treatment about 14 years ago.
Elyana explained that her post was meant to raise awareness that fighting cancer is far more important than worrying about losing one’s hair.
“They worry, and I used to feel the same way too.
“But I want them to realise that being bald is perfectly fine; it can be beautiful too,” she said.
