A SECONDARY school in Hulu Selangor has drawn the ire of Indian parents who claim that it is refusing to allow their children to take the Tamil Literature subject, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The school in question has an experienced Tamil literature teacher and at least six Form Four students who are keen to take the subject in SPM.
The students have also received the relevant text books but without the classes, they’ve been set back significantly, the parents said.
They claimed the school has refused to allow the students to take the subject or for classes to be conducted.
School managements and education authorities in some states have made it difficult for Indian students to take Tamil Language and Tamil Literature subjects.
Parents said with more Indian students showing interest in these subjects, the situation must change.
They also called on Selangor education officials to intervene and assist the students to take the subjects.
