1.9 million traffic summonses still unsettled


KOTA BARU: About 1.9 million outstanding summonses remain unsettled by road users nationwide, with offenders facing potential penalties, including being blacklisted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) if they do not resolve these issues before Dec 31.

JPJ senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said the figure comprises 1,458,577 summonses issued via the Automated Awareness Safety System cameras, 296,684 notices under Section 114 (vehicle modification enquiries) and 164,598 notices under Section 115 (vehicle inspection), bringing the total to 1,919,859 unpaid summonses.
