Two teen foreigners arrested for reckless motorcycle riding in Iskandar Puteri

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have detained two 19-year-old foreigners for reckless riding on their motorcycles along two highways here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M.Kumar said they were arrested during an operation at KM6.2 of the Second Link (northbound from Tuas) and at the Johor Baru–Pontian Highway (Perling toll plaza towards Gelang Patah).

"A total of 64 summonses were issued for various traffic offences following inspections of 27 motorcycles and 29 individuals aged 14 to 28.

“Both locations have been identified as hotspots for illegal racing and performing dangerous stunts," he said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 20).

He added they also seized 25 motorcycles for various offences, including illegal structural modifications such as exhaust systems and registration plates, riding without a licence, no side mirrors, lack of insurance coverage and other violations.

He said the two teenagers were being investigated.

“Such operations will be conducted continuously to curb illegal racing activities and ensure public safety and order in the Iskandar Puteri area,” said ACP Kumarasan.
