Teenager killed in fall at Buntong waterfall


IPOH: A 17-year-old boy has died after falling at the Buntong Waterfall here on Saturday (Sept 20).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) acting assistant director of Operations, Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, said an emergency call was received from the Health Ministry at 11.26am requesting assistance to bring the victim down.

He said a team from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arriving at the foothill, the team had to trek about one kilometre before reaching the location where the victim had fallen.

"The victim, who had sustained injuries, received initial treatment from medical personnel before being pronounced dead,” he said in a statement today.

Shazlean added that the operation was fully concluded by 2.20pm. - Bernama
