Sabah Umno urges establishment of Sabah-Sarawak task force to speed up power projects

KOTA KINABALU: A special Sabah-Sarawak task force should be established to hasten the delayed Southern Link and Sabah-Sarawak Grid projects, says Sabah Umno information chief Suhaimi Nasir.

Suhaimi, who is Libaran MP, said that the delayed project was impacting the electricity supply needs in Sabah's eastern Lahad Datu, Kalabakan and Tawau.

"If this project is delayed because the Lawas-Miri (Sarawak) section has not been completed, the first step is to establish the Sabah-Sarawak Task Force.

"A date should be set for a discussion, and progress monitoring must be conducted consistently," said Suhaim.

"Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) must build a mechanism for collaboration with neighbouring states," he said.
