Johor immigration detains 46 foreigners during raids


JOHOR BARU: The Immigration Department has raided more than a dozen premises and detained 46 foreigners for various immigration offences.

Johor immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus, on Thursday (Sept 11), said the men arrested include 13 Indonesians, 12 Myanmar nationals, 4 Bangladeshis and a Nepalese.

He added that they also arrested a total of 14 women and two children.

"All those arrested are between two and 50 years old," he said, adding that a total of 81 people were screened during the midnight operation at Bandar Ulu Tiram on Sept 10.

He added that some 26 immigration officers were involved in the raids at 13 terraces and shop lots.

All those detained have been sent to the Setia Tropika immigration depot for investigation.

Among the offences committed are overstaying and entering the country with a valid permit or pass.
