Negri hopes to settle RM1.2bil land premium by year-end

SEREMBAN: The payment of land premium compensation involving land at Kem Syed Sirajuddin, which has been outstanding for the past 12 years, is hoped to be settled before the end of the year, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The Mentri Besar said his administration is currently negotiating with the Finance and Defence Ministry (Mindef) on the compensation payment mechanism.

“We hope before the end of this year, the payment can be made.

“Thanks to the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and the Cabinet for agreeing to make this compensation payment,” he told a press conference after chairing the weekly state executive council meeting yesterday, Bernama reported.

On Aug 23, Anwar said the government had agreed to settle the outstanding land premium compensation owed to the state government involving land at Kem Syed Sirajuddin in Gemas, Tampin.

Previously, the state government was prepared to offer the Federal Government the option of settling the premium payment for Permanent Ownership of State Land through instalments.
