12 cops among 22 trapped by KKB water surge, all successfully rescued

HULU SELANGOR: A total of 22 individuals are reported to be trapped across a river following a water surge incident in Kampung Orang Asli Pertak, Kuala Kubu Baharu, on Thursday (Sept 4), Sinar Harian reports.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operation director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said that they had received a call regarding the incident at 6:42pm Thursday, the Malay language daily reported.

"A team of five personnel along with a fire engine from the Kuala Kubu Baharu Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location, which is approximately 20km away," he said in a statement on Thursday.

He said that initial information from the police indicated that there are 22 victims trapped, consisting of 12 police officers and 10 civilians.

"They were believed to have been engaged in recreational activities when the rain caused the water surge.

"The rescue team, which arrived at the location at 7:07pm and all the victims were successfully rescued by 7.50pm," he added.
