Bukit Aman identifies TikTok account owners allegedly spreading seditious posts

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have identified the owners of two TikTok accounts suspected of disseminating seditious posts and false allegations on social media.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) director Datuk M. Kumar said the post on the account Muhammad Zamis Shah@zamis88_shah98_sikacau was about the death of Zara Qairina, and the other account, Monkey Dnaga, linked the Prime Minister to Israel.

"Investigation papers have been opened into both cases. The owners of the accounts have been identified, and there was no connection between them. Efforts to trace the suspects are currently underway," he said in a statement issued late on Tuesday (Sept 2).

He said the investigation was being conducted by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) of Division D5, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department in accordance with Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Kumar said strict action would be taken against individuals who create, upload, share or disseminate seditious posts, fake news or content that could cause public outrage and threaten social harmony. - Bernama
