Negri Sembilan to secure over RM10bil new investments in 2025, says MB Aminudin

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan is on track to meet its target of securing more than RM10bil in new investments for this year, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic).

The Mentri Besar said the target could be achieved based on investments received in the first half of this year so far.

"Based on our performance for the first six months, yes, we can achieve our target.

"Although we have our own figures, only the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry can state the exact amount approved so far, as they are the final authority on approving these investments," he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri on Wednesday (Aug 20).

In 2024, the state received investments totalling RM7.25bil involving 208 approved projects covering the manufacturing, services and other key sectors.

Of this, RM3.4bil or 46.9% was foreign investment, most of which involved high-tech projects.

Aminuddin said the outlook for the second half of the year also looked bright with several new investors planning to invest in the state.

"We have several new investors coming in, including a semiconductor manufacturer from China setting up operations here.

"In fact, the state will be opening another new area for new industries covering a large area in the next few months to house more investors," he said.

The new industrial area, he said, will be located in the Malaysian Vision Valley 2.0.

To another question, Aminuddin said he has yet to receive any report of existing investors planning to move out of the state due to global economic uncertainties.

"I have no information on this, but I am confident that this will not happen following the lower tariff structure announced by the United States on exports.

"I believe Malaysia is still an attractive investment destination despite the new tariff structure," he said, adding that the state has continued to receive queries on investment opportunities despite the tariff announcement.
