KOTA KINABALU: A 35-year-old foreigner has been arrested for assaulting his wife with a hard object at their plantation quarters in Sabah's east coast Kalabakan district.

Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said on Monday (Aug 4) that the man allegedly attacked his wife after a heated argument turned violent on Saturday (Aug 2).

"The wife suffered bodily and facial injuries after she was beaten with a hard object," he said.

He added that the wife subsequently lodged a police report, and the police traced the suspect to the workers' quarters.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for assault and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act.
