Two TNB workers suffer burns in Melaka substation mishap


MELAKA: Two Tenaga Nasional Berhad workers sustained burns following an electrical explosion at a substation near Pangsapuri Rumpun Bahagia on Jalan Bachang here.

The incident which occurred during routine maintenance work on Monday (July 21), triggered an emergency response from the Melaka Tengah Fire and Rescue Station.

Senior Fire Supt Mohd Ismail Harun, who led the operation, said they received a distress call at 10.38am.

"A team of nine firefighters was dispatched and arrived at the scene within five minutes.

"By the time we got there, the fire had already been extinguished," he said on Monday (July 21).

Both victims, believed to be in their 30s, suffered burns while carrying out the maintenance work and were taken to hospital.

"The operation concluded at 10.52am after ensuring there were no further safety hazards at the scene," he said.
