Predawn Kuala Lumpur flat fire kills one


KUALA LUMPUR: A man was killed in an early morning blaze that gutted a flat on Jalan Hang Tuah on Monday (July 21).

In a statement, the City Fire and Rescue Department said it received an alert at 2.58am and dispatched firefighters to the scene.

Flames were found raging on the 10th floor of the building, and the fire was brought under control by 3.10am.

“The body of a man in his fifties was discovered in the bathroom,” the department said, adding that the remains have been handed over to the police. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
