Going from self-love to lock-up

SHAH ALAM: The founder of the controversial eHati Love Intensive event, accused of hosting semi-nude dancing and “spiritual cleansing baths” has been arrested along with her husband.

Authorities are digging deeper into what really unfolded behind the closed doors of the programme that was marketed as a motivational self-love retreat.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, when contacted, said the female founder and her husband were arrested by the police but he did not specify when the arrest was made.

He added that follow-up actions are being conducted and did not deny the possibility of more arrests to come.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, in a statement on Monday said that investigations into the event have been opened, including under Section 294 of the Penal Code for public indecency and Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a person.

Previously, the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) said in a statement that it had started investigations over the motivational talk where it was alleged that semi-naked dancing and “holy cleansing baths” were conducted.
