IPOH: A man's body was found in a 15m-deep ravine near Kampung Batu 23 at Jalan Pahang in Tapah.
Tapah OCPD Supt Johari Yahya said police were informed about the matter by a member of the public on Saturday (July 12) at 12.43pm.
Supt Johari said the victim, in his 30s, was found in a white shirt and black shorts.
"The body was brought up with the assistance from firemen and medical personnel pronounced his death," he said in a statement on Sunday (July 13).
"The state police K9 and forensics units were also roped in to assist with the investigations.
"We however did not find any identification documents on the victim nor near him," he added.
Supt Johari said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"The victim was brought to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital mortuary for post-mortem on Sunday (July 13).
"The cause of death was due to blunt force trauma," he said.
"Bruises were found on his back and hands.
"Fingerprints have been taken to identify the victim," he added.
Supt Johari also urge those with information about the incident to come forward to the nearest police station or contact investigating officer Asst Supt Shahrul Shamsudin at 05-401 1222.
"The police also want to warn and advise the people to not be involved in any activities that are against the law or cause public anxiety.
