MELAKA: Professionals and businessmen braved the heat in a two-hour marching drill at the Home Ministry complex in Ayer Keroh here, reliving their schooldays.
Organised by the Melaka Civil Defence Force (APM), the drill aimed to strengthen discipline and readiness among its corporate associate officers.
APM Corporate Officers Association chairman Colonel (PA) Mike Thein said it was a sweet moment for many to march again after so many years.
“Some of them, especially those nearing the age of 60, did remarkably well despite the scorching heat," he said.
Thein said the training was conducted by Melaka APM's Warrant Officer 1 (PA) Zolkipli Isnin, a former soldier known for his precise marching technique and field discipline.
He said several participants were seasoned businessmen and professionals who turned up in full spirit.
"A separate briefing on APM's roles and officer responsibilities was led by Lieutenant (PA) Muhamad Alif Abd Rahman.
“This is part of our ongoing preparation to ensure our officers are ready for flood relief missions and other emergencies,” he said.
Thein said that the latest session builds on a three-day intensive flood crisis management programme held in April in Jasin, jointly run with the Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) and APM’s corporate associate officers.
"This is a vital step in strengthening volunteer resilience and disaster response readiness," he added.
