Air-only rule breached for Ghanaian

PETALING JAYA: An Immigration officer violated official procedures by permitting a Ghanaian to enter Malaysia via the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration Office in Kedah, says the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC).

The Malaysian Immigration Circular states that passport holders from African countries are only permitted to enter Malaysia via air entry points, EAIC said in a statement yesterday

The matter came to light after a complaint was lodged with EAIC.

“The incident occurred on Nov 18, 2024.

“The complaint alleged that the officer failed to comply with the prescribed procedures regarding entry into the country.

“As a result, the EAIC has decided to refer the case to the disciplinary authority of the Immigration Department, recommending disciplinary action... for disobeying lawful orders,” the statement read.
