SEREMBAN: A 56-year-old man has been jailed for one month after he admitted to road usage without due care that led to a fatal accident.
K Selva Natchathram did not contest the charge after it was read to him before Magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talhah here on Thursday (June 26).
The accused, who had claimed trial when first charged on May 29, was alleged to have committed the offence at 2.55pm on March 27 last year at Taman Desa Anggerik.
He was charged under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, read together with Section 54(1), which extends certain driving offence provisions to include cyclists.

Offenders can be fined between RM1,000 and RM5,000 and jailed for up to 12 months or both, upon conviction.
The accused who was unrepresented, told the court he did not have the means to pay a fine as he only worked as a security guard and would rather go to prison.
Deputy public prosecutor P Rubini then asked the court for a punishment commensurate with the offence.
According to the facts of the case, the accused was cycling from Ampangan towards Senawang when he made a sudden right turn at a junction.
A 28-year-old motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction could not stop in time and crashed into the accused.
The victim died on the spot from serious head injuries.
