720kg of cooking oil seized in store raid

IPOH: The Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry seized 720kg of packet cooking oil and business documents estimated to be worth RM1,800 during a raid in Teluk Kurin Buntong here.

Its director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the raid, carried out at 2pm on Monday at a house used as an illegal storage facility for packet cooking oil, was the result of a week-long surveillance and intelligence operation by ministry enforcement officers under Op Tiris 3.0.

“A 27-year-old man, believed to be the tenant of the house, has had his statement recorded to assist in investigations.

“Preliminary investigations found that he failed to produce any permit or licence for storing controlled goods,” he said in a statement, Bernama reported.

Kamalludin said the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.
