PUTRAJAYA: Newly-appointed Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail says he has never been part of any political party in all his years in the police force.
"In my 38 years in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), I have never been involved in any political parties.
"As you know, PKR secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Salleh has clarified the issue recently," he told the media after the Home Ministry's monthly assembly here on Monday (June 23).

On Friday (June 20), a Malay daily published a report erroneously linking Khalid to the political party.
"I accept what has happened with an open heart. The newspaper involved has already requested to meet with me. I will meet with them soon, InsyaAllah.

Khalid, from Manong, Perak, joined PDRM in 1987 and served as the police attaché at the Malaysian High Commission in London from 2014 to 2018. After his time in London, he returned to Malaysia to lead the Pahang Special Branch as its chief.
In 2023, he was promoted to Special Branch director at Bukit Aman, a post in which he served until his promotion to IGP last week.
