Three hurt after fire breaks out at LPG store in Kulai


KULAI: Three men suffered burns when a blaze broke out at a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders supplier here.

Kulai Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Asmiza Zaini said the incident, which took place on Jalan Timur 4, Kawasan Perindustrian Timur, was reported at 1.40am on Thursday (June 12).

“Three victims, two in their 30s and one in his 40s, were injured in the fire where they suffered from about 50% burns.

“About 85% of the shop, which supplies and stores LPG cylinders, has been destroyed by the fire,” he said in a statement.

Asmiza added that the flames were completely put out at around 3.25am by 13 firemen.

Cooling works were also conducted on an LPG tanker lorry that was parked nearby, he said.

He added that the victims were sent to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim here for medical treatment and the authorities are in the process of identifying their identities.

He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
