Chinese tourist drowns at Pulau Perhentian


JERTIH: A woman from China drowned while swimming in Pulau Perhentian waters here on Thursday (June 5).

Besut OCPD Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the 33-year-old victim is believed to have been swimming alone during the 11am incident, while her cousin was on the beach.

The cousin noticed that the victim had not returned to shore after being in the water for about half an hour.

"The cousin began searching for her and learned that the victim had been found unconscious and floating near a rocky area. She was later confirmed to have died,” he said on Friday (June 6).

The body was taken to Hospital Besut's Forensic Unit for further action. – Bernama
