Keningau education officer advocates strong moral values in digital age

KOTA KINABALU: Students must be instilled with a sense of empathy, responsibility and strong moral values as they equip themselves with digital literacy in this era of information technology, says Keningau district education officer Johari @ Jaibet Sabin.

“The government has launched several initiatives, including the Kempen Internet Selamat and providing psychosocial support to victims of bullying, to address this issue,” he said when officiating at the Pentarama X Kelab Malaysiaku SMK Apin-Apin in Keningau on Wednesday (May 28).

“We need to strengthen ethical and moral education for students and support the involvement of all quarters, including parents, school communities and relevant agencies to tackle this issue holistically,” Johari said at the event attended by approximately 1,000 people, including students, teachers, and parents.

He stated that unity-based education and programmes must be enhanced and strengthened to instil patriotism and develop characters that would translate into quality human capital.
