Man killed in car-lorry crash on North-South Expressway


MUAR: A local man died on the spot in an accident involving the car he was driving and a lorry carrying hardware products at KM 104.1 of the North-South Expressway (Southbound).

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operation Centre said they received an emergency call regarding the incident on Wednesday (May 14) at 8.49am.

Pagoh Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Fadli Ismail said seven firemen and a fire rapid tender vehicle from the station were deployed to the scene about 26km away.

“The 26-year-old victim was trapped in his car and we had to use special equipment to retrieve the body,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Fadli said the 41-year-old driver of the lorry was also injured and was handed over to the Health Ministry paramedic team for further action.

The operation led by senior officer II Mohd Hafiz Mohd Shahid ended at 10.12am.
