Bomba rescues 18 trapped by water surge in Hulu Langat


HULU LANGAT: The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department rescued 18 individuals trapped in a water surge incident at Sungai Lepoh here on Sunday (May 11), Sinar Harian reports.

Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar told the Malay language daily that they received an emergency call at 5:09pm.

"Seven personnel and officers, along with a fire engine from the Fire and Rescue station, rushed to the scene located about 30km from the station," he said on Sunday.

Ahmad Mukhlis also said the incident involved 18 individuals, comprising three men, eight women, and seven children, who were stranded due to the water surge.

"We immediately carried out operations to evacuate all the individuals to a safe area. All of them were successfully rescued by 6:32pm.

"One of the individuals, a woman in her 30s, experienced breathing difficulties and was handed over to the Health Ministry for further action," he added.
