PETALING JAYA: Nominations for the PKR central leadership council have begun with at least seven names already in the running for the vice-president's post.

However, as of press time, no names have been submitted for the deputy president’s post yet.

Checks by The Star showed that so far, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who had lost the Setiawangsa division chief post and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister in the Unity Government Chang Lih Kang have submitted the nomination for the vice president’s post.

Others vying for the post are Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry Datuk Seri R Ramanan, Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, Selangor exco Hee Loy Sian and Senator Abun Sui Anyit.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek is looking to defend the Wanita PKR chief post while Juwairiya Zulkifli is defending the deputy Wanita PKR chief post.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has submitted nominations for the Central Leadership Council along with Datuk Hans Isaac and former education minister Dr. Maszlee Malik.

All eyes will be on the deputy president’s post as Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli is expected to defend the position. Other big names that are speculated to take him on for the party's no.2 spot are Nurul Izzah Anwar and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Nominations for the party’s CLC will be held on May 8 and 9.
