Four linked to drug syndicate nabbed in Melaka

MELAKA: Four men were arrested for allegedly being involved in an international drug trafficking racket.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said police also seized syabu weighing 10,000g and other assets, all worth about RM379,000.

He said the drugs were found in a rented house in Krubong during a raid at 11.30pm on April 30.

He said all the male suspects were aged between 19 and 50.

“The syabu, estimated to worth RM320,000, was intended for the international market.

“We also confiscated several assets belonging to the suspects, including a car and three motorcycles,” he said yesterday.

ACP Christopher said urine tests conducted on the suspects came back negative but one of them had two prior drug-related offences.

“We believe the syndicate has been active since the beginning of the year,” he said.

The suspects were remanded until May 8 to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
