Couple pretends to be customers and steals jewellery

SHAH ALAM: Over RM100,000 worth of valuables were stolen by a couple who pretended to be customers in a jewellery store here.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred on Saturday (April 26) when the suspects entered the outlet under the guise of buying jewellery.

"When the complainant was busy showing them the items, the female suspect pocketed several pieces without the worker's knowledge.

"The missing pieces were only discovered through the CCTV footage which showed the woman in the act while the worker was not paying attention," he said in a statement on Monday (April 28).

The jewellery stolen included two gold rings and three necklaces with total losses estimated to be around RM111,743.55.

"The man was wearing a red cap and sunglasses while the woman was wearing a white cap and a face mask.

"Efforts to track down the couple are underway," he said.
