Cops nab suspects in two armed robberies within 24 hours


KOTA TINGGI: Police have solved two armed robbery cases within 24 hours with the arrest of five people, including a woman.

All the suspects, aged in their 20s and 40s, have since been remanded to assist in the investigation.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the case occurred when two foreigners, in their 30s, were robbed in Teluk Ramunia while a local woman in her 50s in Kg. Gambut Pungai between 10am and 10.40am on Wednesday (April 23).

He said the police reports were filed at the Bayu Damai police station.

"The suspects used machetes and iron hammers in the robberies," he said, adding that based on information, police carried out raids in Pasir Gudang and Johor Baru and nabbed the suspects.

Supt Yusof added that all five suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and have prior records involving drugs and criminal offences.

The suspects have since been remanded for seven days.

“We also recovered a stolen gold bracelet, a mobile phone and also seized weapons and clothing used during the robberies,” said Supt Yusof.
