School principal charged in Sabah with making false claims for development grant application

KOTA KINABALU: A school principal was charged with making false claims to the Chief Minister’s Department to apply for a development grant in Kudat, between April and June 2021.

Abd Rasad Sadikir, 56, was accused of producing false bank statements and a fake supporting letter for the construction of an administrative office meant for the Persatuan Komuniti

Anak Banggi at Kampung Karakit Banggi, Kudat.

The claims amounting to RM85,000 were made to the Chief Minister’s Department via the state Finance Ministry.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges before Special Corruptions Court judge Jason Juga on Wednesday (April 23).

The court set June 12 for case management and RM10,000 in bail with a local surety, and ordered that the accused surrender his passport to the court.

Abd Rasad is also required to report to the nearest Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office once every two months and is prohibited from meeting or contacting prosecution witnesses.

He is also suspended from all duties until his case is over.
