Sabah PKR to prioritise seat sharing with Pakatan partners, says Mustapha Sakmud

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR’s main priority is on seat sharing discussions with its Pakatan Harapan partners before talking about partnerships with other parties or coalitions to face the coming state election (PRN17).

Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said with the party division elections completed over the weekend, it was time to fully prioritise facing the 17th state election.

“We will continue our seat negotiations with the other Pakatan members and finalise seat arrangements before opening our doors to other parties such as Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) for partnership talks,” he said.

He urged all members, regardless of whether they won or lost in the party polls, to close ranks

and focus on working together to face the coming state election, as they cannot afford to continue bickering amongst themselves.

“I am appealing to all to please put your differences aside and work together for one common goal,” Mustapha said.

He said all party members and leaders must not stray from the main focus and strengthen their election machinery, come PRN17.

Speaking on the just concluded Sabah PKR polls which saw some big timers losing their seats to newcomers, he said those who wished to file complaints can do so internally and peacefully.

The central election committee will analyse and audit each and every complaint properly, assured Mustapha who retained his Kota Belud PKR division chief position after defeating two challengers.

He said the party polls were conducted systematically and peacefully.

“I wish to congratulate the new and old division leaders, and hopefully we can all carry out our responsibilities well,” he said.
