SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission has obtained an order to remand a former village community management council (MPKK) chairman for allegedly using council funds for personal use.

The suspect, who is in his 60s, was detained after he had his statement recorded at the state MACC office on Wednesday (April 16).

"The court has allowed the suspect to be remanded for seven days till April 24 to allow the MACC to probe the case," he said.

It is learnt that the suspect had withdrawn RM10,000 from the council's bank account in 2023 for personal use.

The funds were a grant from the state government which were to be used to carry out minor projects or programmes for the community.

When contacted, state MACC chief Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the case, adding that it was being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
