PETALING JAYA: Unity in diversity is Malaysia’s strength, say leaders in conveying their festive greetings to the Tamil, Sikh and Malayalee communities celebrating Chithirai Puthandu (Tamil New Year), Vaisakhi and Vishu respectively.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia’s diversity is celebrated with pride, noting that it makes the country unique and strong.

“Unity must persist as it is the country’s strength,” he said in a post on his social media accounts yesterday.

Anwar said the government will continue to strengthen initiatives that empower the Indian community in Malaysia, such as the financing programmes for businesses, as well as improving education, houses of worship and job opportunities.

“This is important in realising the intention of empowering the Indian community in Malaysia and uplifting their future socioeconomic status,” said Anwar.

In his wishes, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Malaysia continues to shine due to its diversity.

“Unity is the country’s greatest strength. May the celebrations strengthen harmony, foster greater mutual respect and strengthen unity among us all,” he said.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said Malaysia must continue strengthening ties across races, as well as unity, tolerance and mutual respect.

“It is the foundation of the country’s strength. The National Unity Ministry remains committed to fostering and preserving unity so that Malaysia continues to be a peaceful, prosperous and united country,” he said in his celebratory greetings.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said such celebrations serve as a platform for nation-building founded on a spirit of togetherness.

“Every new moment opens the door to a refreshed narrative, strengthening our resolve to build a progressive, inclusive and sustainable society.

“This is the time to express our collective commitment in unlocking shared potential,” she said in a post on X.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan also conveyed the Tamil New Year, Vaisakhi and Vishu greetings to communities celebrating the festivals.

“May more blessings and successes come your way,” he said.
