One-stop centre for settling labour issues to be set up

Sim: ‘This one-stop centre will be established nationwide, but the pilot project will begin in Penang.’

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A one-stop centre will be set up to resolve labour-related issues, says Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.

The centre will consolidate all labour-related services so that employees and employers will no longer need to visit multiple departments.

“I will make an announcement soon on the ministry’s plan to establish a One-Stop Employee Service Centre to look after the welfare of workers in the country.

“We will bring all these services under one roof to make it easier for employees, employers and human resource managers.

“If there are labour-related issues, they can go directly to the one-stop centre,” he said in his speech at the Penang DAP Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here yesterday, Bernama reported.

Also present were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, DAP state vice-chairman Zairil Khir Johari and DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng.

At the same time, Sim said Penang will be the first state to host the centre.

“This one-stop centre will be established nationwide, but the pilot project will begin in Penang, and I will work with the state government on this matter,” he added.

The open house was attended by around 1,000 guests, including state party leaders under the unity government.
