Man thrown out of vehicle, dies in crash on JB-Kota Tinggi road


JOHOR BARU: A man was killed on the spot after he was thrown out of his vehicle after ramming into the rear of a car near here.

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Sohaimi Ishak said the accident took place at KM19, Jalan Johor Baru-Kota Tinggi at 5.15am on Friday (April 11).

"The 33-year-old victim suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead on site," he said in a statement on Friday.

ACP Sohaimi said the victim, who was driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV), hit the back of the car driven by a 68-year-old man.

He said the car driver was travelling from Jalan Taman Kota for morning prayers at Masjid Bandar Ulu Tiram and was unhurt.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Witnesses are urged to come forward to assist the investigation or contact police at 07-386 4222.
