KLIA Ekspres, KLIA Transit trains resume 'normal' services after earlier disruptions

PUTRAJAYA: The KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit train services, which were disrupted due to vandalism involving a series of cable thefts earlier on Wednesday (April 9), have resumed 'normal' operations as of 4pm, says Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL).

"Following the recent incidents of cable theft and signalling disruption affecting KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services, ERL has implemented immediate measures to ease the inconvenience for our passengers and further enhance security of the affected areas," it said in a statement on Wednesday.

ERL said complimentary shuttle bus services have been introduced to assist passengers during this period. They operate between Salak Tinggi Station and the Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Station every 20 minutes.

The shuttle bus service began operating at 1pm and will continue until train services are fully restored. Clearly marked pick-up and drop-off points are available at Salak Tinggi Station and Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Station.

ERL said security measures across affected areas were significantly enhanced to prevent similar incidents.

These measures include deploying additional personnel to hotspot areas, increasing patrol frequency and intensifying surveillance around critical infrastructure.

"ERL is working closely with the relevant authorities to investigate the recent incidents and implement preventative measures," it said.

ERL reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers and deeply regrets the inconvenience caused by these unforeseen circumstances.

"We are working around the clock to restore full train services as quickly as possible. We will continue to provide regular updates on the progress of the restoration efforts through our official channels," it said. – Bernama
