Floods force 99 residents to evacuate in Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: Flooding in parts of Batu Pahat has forced the evacuation of 99 residents from 34 families, who have been relocated to a temporary relief centre at SMK Seri Gading.

According to the Johor Disaster Management Committee, those affected are from Kampung Baharu and Parit Raja.

The centre began operations at 10am on Saturday (April 5).

"Rescue operations are ongoing, and the number of evacuees is expected to increase," the committee said in a statement.

Meanwhile, water levels at the river monitoring station in Sungai Senggarang have reached a warning threshold.
