KOTA KINABALU: Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident at Simpang 4 along the Kunak-Lahad Datu Road on Thursday (April 3).

A team of five, led by Kunak fire station operations commander Brahim Ismail, responded to an 11.59am emergency call and arrived at the scene, about 5km away, at 12.05pm.

Station chief Mohammad Omarbatha confirmed that the victims, consisting of a 43-year-old motorcyclist and two car drivers – a 25-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman – had been helped out of the wrecked vehicles by passers-by.

“The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital by his family, while the other two victims were given first aid and then taken for further treatment by the emergency medical rescue services team," he said.

All the victims received outpatient treatment at a nearby hospital, he added.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
