PETALING JAYA: Efforts to further strengthen Malaysia-Iran bilateral relations were discussed in a call between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Iran President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday (March 31).
Both leaders also exchanged Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings over the call.
“We reaffirmed our commitment to deepening our friendship, enhancing investment and trade, and expanding collaboration across various potential sectors,” Prime Minister Anwar said in a post uploaded to his social media accounts on Monday.
Anwar also said the recent visit by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to Tehran last month marked a positive step in advancing bilateral ties and cooperation.
“To build on this momentum, I will ensure the swift and seamless implementation of initiatives to enhance partnerships in investment, trade, education, research and beyond,” the Prime Minister said.
Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s appreciation for Iran’s steadfast stance in defending Palestinian rights, particularly in opposing Israel’s blatant violations of the ceasefire and its obstruction of peace efforts.
“We remain convinced that solidarity and unity among Muslim nations and the global community are crucial in upholding justice and lasting peace in Gaza,” he said.
