Two jetties and house destroyed in fire in Sekinchan


KLANG: Two jetties and a house were destroyed in a fire at Jeti Achok Lorong 11 in Sekinchan.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said it was estimated that all three places suffered 80% damage.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 8.57am and brought under control by 10am yesterday.

“The fire engulfed a row of squatter jetties and a house. Also destroyed in the fire were a van and a car,” said Ahmad Mukhlis.

Fire engines, with 17 personnel from the Sekinchan, Tanjong Karang and Sungai Besar fire stations, arrived at the scene at 9.02am.

In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old man was burnt to death in a fire at a house in Sungai Chua, Kajang.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the fire was reported at 10.08am, and fire engines from the Kajang, Semenyih and Seri Kembangan fire stations arrived at 10.13am.

The fire was brought under control by 10.45am.

He added that the victim was found in the bathroom of the house, which suffered 70% damage.
